The new After Midnight song is also an instrumental, but lively and more optimistic, with a wah-wah guitar sound.  This softer sound makes its way into a trilogy of songs that are heavier and louder. The Blood Rock novel plot once again finds Elliott on his way into leadership and danger. They were also both written in the late 1970s and modified in the early 80s.  Dancer works on open chords played at the 12th fret and down the neck.  This was one of Roman’s earlier written bass lines.  He wrote the bass line as specifically inspired by the Getty Lee jam\/bass line in Freewill, by The Real Me, by the Who’s John Entwhistle off of Quadrophenia, and by the Lady Madonna bass line from the double live album, Wings Over America. Roman wrote the song Nanba Town, in Nanba, China.   Early in the morning he would walk up a very long set of stairs from the town center to what is essentially a mountain top. He would then walk his way down a much longer road, on a series of S-turns and bends.  That morning there was cloud on the mountain that looked like smoke. There was a slash-and-burn crop fire under control that sent flames high into the sky. He found some gear in a friend’s band room and the song developed from there. Most of his choices were heavy and meant to be played loud.  Roman and Frank often joked about how Roger often told and retold the story of his first and earliest concerts.  Van Halen, Motley Crue and Kiss.  So Roman asked for a Kiss song and suggested Beth, but speed up and loud. They worked through the song, got good chords and tempo,  found a good key and then worked on their own interpretation of the cover.  Roger and Roman remember when they started making up and new ending for the song, where Roger sang the lyrics “Cause me and the boys will be playing,” and they all three sang “all night” in three-part harmony.  The repeated the “all night” words three time.
